Eating To Your Hearts’ Content While Keeping Your Weight In Check at Christmas Time
Around Christmas time, some people eat to their heart’s content, while paying attention to their weight. Others indulge themselves to that extra helping of cake and cookies without care to gaining some pounds or an intake of empty calories.
Some people just can’t resist and others brush it off saying, “tis the season to be jolly”, so they eat to their hearts content and begin the new year fat with extra pounds in the waist and wherever. It’s okay to indulge oneself, especially at this time of the year; since no guilt is produced. Still, one should be diligent when it comes to hearty eating. Why would anyone want to begin the New Year looking like Porky Pig and have as a New Years “Weight loss” baffles me. This makes no sense at all as, if some people really try, eating themselves into becoming fat can be avoided no matter what time of year it is.
This does not imply that you should limit your enjoyment especially around this time of the year, you should just be wary of what you put in your mouth. You can still have your fill of Christmas delights;so,there is no need to pass up on treats or fine dining.
No one said that there is something wrong with eating and being merry especially at this time of the year. As long as you have a plan which you can stick to for the holidays; you will find that you will not have to pass up your favorite treats. You know how, people have a spending budget, there is such a thing as an eating budget and you can have one as well.
No, I am not talking about the price of what you eat; but, the proportion of what you eat. Since being exposed to those special holiday treats like candies, cakes, and cookies are inevitable; it is imperative that you have an “eating budget’ or some other plan of action in place to control your eating habits. This will prevent you from falling off the band wagon and help you with your weight loss goals.
At work, you may appear to be stealing the spirit of Christmas if you always respond with “no thanks” when Christmas treats are offered to you. It may also seem that you aren’t in the holiday spirit especially since at that time of year, people tend to be festive as they spread Christmas cheer.
One method of having your share of Christmas holiday treats is by substituting holiday goodies like cookies for a peanut butter sandwich. Also, take four treats instead of one so your colleague won’t bother urging you to have some more. This is where you can implement your plan of action. You can take as much time as you want to indulge yourself while enjoying those treats, as no one will be taking note of how and what you eat. To make it appear like you are having a ball while enjoying your holiday goodies; you can display holiday cookies and / or candies on your desk.
Here’s another plan of action you can also take. Bring your own low calorie holiday treats to work. If you do, you won’t be talked about nor get criticized provided that those holiday treats are delicious and tasty. Also, these days’ people are very conscious about health and weight gain that they urge others to eat healthy. Sugar-free Christmas chocolate treats look as delicious as the regular chocolate treats.
In a 2004, survey conducted by the National Confectioners Association, it was discovered that chocolate was the food gift of choice that Americans would rather receive at holiday time. The famous fruitcake made it to the bottom of the list while a fruit basket was the next favorite holiday food gift with a platter of cookies being the third.
Occasions like holiday parties or Christmas Dinner are times when there is an abundance of food and and a huge selection of holiday treats. ‘Eating on a Budget’ plan comes into play and it means that attention should be paid to food portions and choices before consumption. Sampling your favorites is understandable especially if your sweet tooth wins causing you to give into temptation.Avoid seconds as you don’t want to go beyond your eating budget.
Sure, tis the season to be merry but you don’t want to over indulge, mess up your eating budget and gain weight when you should be shedding pounds.
