Party Planning Checklist
Do you want to have as much fun at your party as your invitees? Well, you can if you implement these guides that most party planners use to make party planning a success. Arm yourself with a party checklist!
Early Party Planning
Phase 1
** Draft up your invitation list. If you a hosting a huge cocktail party, your invitation list should include more people than you can accommodate, roughly about 20 percent. The reason for this is that usually 70 to 80 percent of people show up.
**
Do you have a Party Theme?
Choose one, if it’s your intention; however, you will need decorations and music to complement it. Go ahead! You can make, borrow or purchase these items to blend in with your party theme.
Have You Sent Out Invitations?
These days there are numerous ways to get the word about your party out• so start sending out your invites. You can send e-invites, use local mail, phone invitations, and e-mail invitations. Whatever method you choose to utilize, just get those invitations out else you will end up celebrating solo.
**What’s On the Party Food Menu?
Have you decided what to serve your Guest? Early planning of the party menu is very essential to your party’s success. Get out your recipes! A party with no food spells disaster. Select recipes that allows for freezing so that on the day of the party you can just heat and serve. Don’t forget to make a shopping list. Survey your local grocery store or Supermarket and put in an order for baked goods.
**Will it be Gourmet Buffet Style?
If you decide to have an all you eat Buffet, get as much help as possible and enough food as your party budget permits. Include in your party budget, payment for the aid of a high school senior or anyone to assist you with tidying up, serving of drinks and appetizers, adding more food to Buffet table, and cleaning up before and after the party to lift off the burden off your shoulders.
About Two Weeks before the Party Fiesta
**Do some dish washing. Soap or rinse Silverware, China, Crystal, and /Glass that you will be using. Also, make sure your linens are clean and won’t cause you shame and embarrassment. If they are dirty or dirty or worn out consider washing and ironing or the purchase of brand new ones.
**Make a music list of long lasting, entertaining music. Select appropriate songs that correspond with the party theme. The tempo should be lively and engaging. Include music that illicit some kind of reaction from your invited guests. If your party is held during the summer, Amazon has a wide variety of music you can use click here for music for your summer party.
**Now that the party date is approaching, you should commence your shopping for party foods and get your cooking on the way. At this time, meals that can be placed in the freezer should be prepared.
Winding down to a week before Party
**Thoroughly clean party venue so that on the day of the party;you’ll only have to do a quick sweep and dust over if time permits. To keep it neat and tidy, there is a 19-minute daily routine that you can implement. You can access it at www.realsimple.com/quickcleanup.
** Take stock of cooking utensils and serving dishes.
If you find yourself coming up short with serving dishes for the dish you will be serving you can always buy some for low pricing. Discount and thrift stores sell them at affordable prices. Place labels on them so you won’t forget what goes in what at the time of your party.
Put party furniture in such a way that Guests can move freely without anything obstructing movement. Set aside a table for tea, drinks, and desserts, if they are part of your menu. Hideaway things that will get in the way, things of great value that may get damaged or stolen and any other stuff should be stored and locked away. Check the lighting: Bulbs with Low-watts or candlelight tend to create the right ambiance.
**What about the bar?**
If you plan on having one consider stocking it up with drinks. You should have on hand at least four bottles of wine per every five people, two to three cocktails per invitee for any two- to three-hour cocktail soiree.
Couple Days Prior to Party Fiesta Day
**Spread the word out to your neighbors. Tell them of your intentions especially if you are hosting a huge party where the music will be loud, blasting and the crowd will be large.
**Get your decorations on the way. Set up candles; hang up party theme, balloons and other party decor.
**Party Hosting Venue Reminder
If you’re hosting the party at your house; clear out your medicine cabinet of items of personal use from the eyes of prying guests.
**Did you preplanned for nasty spills?
Delegate clean – up stations. On about three tables with an arrangement of a few rags, wine stain remover, club soda, and salt for use in the unlikely event that a spill should happen.
**Where should coats go?
Provide an area for coats. Have an empty closet filled with hangers so Guests can hang their coats. Or, you can free up a tidy room making certain that your crown jewels are not visible and provide a bed for the coats. You can also buy a portable garment rack at your
local discount store.
**Now it’s time to complete your grocery shopping and jot down in details a cooking schedule for your preparation of other dishes.
It’s the day before the party.
**Have you set up tables and chairs, the buffet? You don’t want to have Guest standing for hours on end neither do you want them wishing they were somewhere else where there’s food.
** Have you bought and arranged the flowers?
**Have you done most of the cooking? Perishable foods that need to be cooked on the day of the party should be cleaned, marinated, diced or rinsed ahead of time. Sometime like the night before.
**Does the house need a 5 minute tidy up? By all means, give it a once-over. Whatever tidying or cleaning that needs to get done, just do it!
Its Party Day
**Time to wrap up everything. It’s now or never. Last minute cooking and everything else should be finished.
**Set up chairs
If you run out of chairs; do not fret because everyone do not have to be seated. Furthermore, this will provide an opportune moment for people to mingle and move around.
**Parlay Food Snacks
About an hour before the arrival of Guests, arrange tables with appetizers and snacks that will not turn bad quickly. Use saran wrap or cover finger foods to maintain freshness. As Guests begin to arrive remove wrapping to grant them access to the food.
**As Guests continue arriving, meet and greet them at the door. Everything should be so well organized; that you have enough time to interact and spend time with your Guests instead of being occupied by minor details.
